Mayweather vs. Ortiz - Random Thoughts

I can't stop thinking about the Mayweather/Ortiz fight that is scheduled. There are only a few names that really get me excited these days, and both of those guys top my list of entertaining and talented fighters. If you are like me, and have come to grips with the fact that Pacquiao and Floyd will eventually meet after they are both out of their primes - then you only have a few places to go to get your fix.
I think Oritz provides the value that the fans deserve. While Pac is fighting guys that either Floyd has already beaten (Marquez, Hatton, Mosley) or B fighters that either come straight forward or 'shell' up (Margarito, Clottey, Cotto)...Floyd has decided to go after a young kid with power in both hands and a very crowd pleasing style.
A year ago, most fans would have snubbed Ortiz as a quitter and a mediocre welterweight with much more to prove than the average contender. After his epic bout with Andre Berto, not a soul can question the heart, power or skill of Victor.
Floyd is going to have his hands full, and it should be one of the better fights we've been offered in recent years. I think Floyd has raised the bar and shown that he is not afraid of taking risks. Anyone who fights Victor Ortiz is taking a major one.
